"North Asia revenue doubled compared to Q2 last year. While this is from a low base, it reflects the success of our local execution of global strategy," president of Novell Asia Pacific CORPORATE network specialist Novell said it expected to see increased Linux revenue in the second half after reporting an eight per cent increase in revenue growth in the second quarter in the Asia Pacific region.
The company said the result highlighted a continuing growth trend in the region.
"North Asia revenue doubled compared to Q2 last year. While this is from a low base, it reflects the success of our local execution of global strategy," Novell Asia Pacific president Rhonda O'Donnell said.
The excellent results for Asia Pacific highlighted a continuing growth trend in the region after several successive quarters of year-on-year growth, she said.
Following extensive travel throughout Asia Pacific in the last five months, Ms O'Donnell said there was growing demand for open source alternatives in Asia.
"Interest in our Linux offering has increased dramatically during the quarter and we expect to see increased Linux revenue in the second half of FY04," she said.
Novell said the results indicated the NetWare client base remained stable while identity management products continued to deliver strong results in Australia, New Zealand and Northern Asia, particularly in the telecommunications, financial services and government sectors.
